‘Wildlife, Art & Ireland’: conversations with Éanna Ní Lamhna & Cathy Fitzgerald, Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim, Sat 29 March, 3pm

I’m excited to share examples of ecosocial creative practices from my work with Hollywood Forest Story and the Haumea Ecoversity Community. At this event I will also highlight how we can creatively use the People’s Earth Charter to engage communities and inspire citizen action to care for all beings.

Join us in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim on Saturday, 29 March at 3 PM.

I’m always delighted to return to Co Leitrim where all my creative Irish forestry adventures began in the mid-90s. I still remember the day when a friend dropped me in South County Leitrim, to begin working at the tiny Crann craft shop, in the small town of Mohill. How much I learned being in Lovely Leitrim all those years ago.

I’m also honoured to be speaking ahead of Ireland’s wonderful biologist and broadcaster Éanna Ní Lambhna.

Éanna will be sharing her delightfully illustrated and important new book for children – The Great Biodiversity Book with enchanting wildlife artwork by Barry Falls

We’ll be speaking at the newly refurbished Methodist Church – Community Centre (its refurbishment was sponsored by The Shed Distillery) and the event is sponsored by Drumshanbo TidyTowns.

⏰ Sat 29 March, 3pm

€10 – All Welcome!

Grateful thanks to past Haumea Ecoversity course participant Eileen O’Toole, who has organised and invited me to speak at this afternoon event. I think it will be a warm, intimate gathering and sharing, looking at the picture of this wonderful small church. Thank you so much Eileen!

Hello! Kia Ora! Dia daoibh!

I’m Cathy Fitzgerald, an ecological artist, educator, and founder of Haumea Ecoversity. Originally from Aotearoa New Zealand, I’ve lived in rural Ireland, the home of my ancestors, for over 30 years. Together with my philosopher colleague Dr Nikos Patedakis (USA), we’ve guided over 400 creative professionals worldwide in transformative ecoliteracy training since 2019.

Haumea Ecoversity Community Membership is the next chapter of this work—a vibrant space for lifelong learning, collective wisdom, and creative transformation for a more beautiful, just, and life-sustaining world.

Dr Cathy Fitzgerald

“In these times of great challenge, I’m passionate about bringing ecoliteracy—including new ecological thinking, values, language, and head-heart-body practices—to creative, sustainability and cultural sectors. These areas have a crucial leadership role: they can inspire communities to embrace new values and actions for living well on Earth, together with all life.”
