“Just as in her own art, where Cathy Fitzgerald is growing a forest,
Shane Finan – Visual Artist, Ireland
in her teaching she draws together the disparate roots, branches,
leaves, seeds and flowers, leaving a healthy forest to flourish for itself.
I am very grateful.”

New Online Course:
Evening Thoughts: Dark Skies, Deep Time
Why this Course?
Recent research shows that Ireland, like many modern societies, now ranks among the lowest countries in the world for nature connection*. At the same time, scientists are warning that our current way of living is disturbing the conditions that support life on Earth.
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who wants to support meaningful nature connection and wellbeing — personally or in their community. It is especially relevant if you work or volunteer in places of restoration or regeneration, or if you guide others in outdoor, creative, or ecological settings.

Why Ecoliteracy ?
In a time of accelerating ecological and social crises, creatives and cultural leaders hold a unique power to inspire systemic change—through richer, more meaningful approaches that reach beyond technological fixes and scientific worldviews.
Yet traditional education offers little preparation for the holistic ecological understanding and emotional resilience needed to respond wisely.
That’s where ecoliteracy comes in.
Ecoliteracy is not just knowledge—it’s a holistic way of seeing and being that connects ecological insights,
ethics, creativity, and spiritual wisdom from diverse traditions to help you develop a just and ecological worldview.
At Haumea Ecoversity, we teach ecoliteracy as a transformative practice rooted in life-affirming values and the peoples’, UNESCO- and IUCN-endorsed Earth Charter that promotes principles for:
compassion and care for all beings, ecological integrity,
social and economic justice, democracy, non-violence, and peace
—so we can communicate and act for personal, collective, planetary, and intergenerational well-being in all that we do.
Unique & Pioneering
We offer a peer-to-peer learning experience, exploring transdisciplinary knowledge with lived, lifeworld experience.
