New Year 2024: Earth Charter Course: communicate clearly for a better world from Haumea Ecoversity

7-Week Self-Paced Online Course from Haumea Ecoversity

Learn to simply and clearly communicate a life-promoting vision and values with ecological artist Dr Cathy Fitzgerald and philosopher Dr Nikos Patedakis by exploring the accessible and holistic peoples and UNESCO-endorsed Earth Charter. You will also gain valuable connections with others working in the creative sustainability field.

For all adults, for all areas of life – become fluent in communicating inclusive values for system change, for personal, collective, planetary and intergenerational well-being.

Values education is foundational for everyone, to guide our creativity, to live well with others and the wider community of life. Values education is essential for inclusive engagement to advance cultural activities for an equitable, sustainable, just and peaceful world.

WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT THE EARTH CHARTER?

For your business, education or cultural organisation, faith community, local government or creative practice, The Earth Charter’s four pillars and 16 principles can help you more easily communicate universal shared values for sustainable, just living:– ecological integrity, social justice, equality and intergenerational sustainability for an enduring culture of peace for all.

Through exploring the Earth Charter and the Children’s Little Earth Charter, become fluent in more expansive values and the shift globally toward Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

Values education is now seen as fundamental to guide: individuals’ creative work, teaching, and curating; cultural institutions’ sustainability communications, programming or education outreach; to foster inclusive community dialogue for ecosystem restoration endeavours; and to deepen sustainability and social justice understanding for those working in science, law, industry, politics, faith communities or business.

The Earth Charter, translated into 65 languages, including Irish, is advanced by peoples’ contributions from diverse cultures from across Earth since 2000. It is a clear definition of sustainability and an inspiring ethical moral compass to guide and communicate our actions toward a thriving, more just and peaceful world.

Hello! Kia Ora! Dia daoibh!

I’m Cathy Fitzgerald, an ecological artist, educator, and founder of Haumea Ecoversity. Originally from Aotearoa New Zealand, I’ve lived in rural Ireland, the home of my ancestors, for over 30 years. Together with my philosopher colleague Dr Nikos Patedakis (USA), we’ve guided over 400 creative professionals worldwide in transformative ecoliteracy training since 2019.

Haumea Ecoversity Community Membership is the next chapter of this work—a vibrant space for lifelong learning, collective wisdom, and creative transformation for a more beautiful, just, and life-sustaining world.

Dr Cathy Fitzgerald

“In these times of great challenge, I’m passionate about bringing ecoliteracy—including new ecological thinking, values, language, and head-heart-body practices—to creative, sustainability and cultural sectors. These areas have a crucial leadership role: they can inspire communities to embrace new values and actions for living well on Earth, together with all life.”
